Nature Photography 🍀

Nature is the best artist; it's the best inspiration! Nature's brilliant glories enchant people and reawaken a special bond. Nature stirs my mind with its mystery and makes me reflect on the power it possesses. Now. Nature Photography is all about making a connection with Nature itself and creating a visionary image! It tends to put a stronger emphasis on the aesthetic value of the photo; after all, you're photographing the Creator itself!

Being one of the most diverse, challenging, and ever-changing fields of Photography, some important aspects are to be kept in mind:-

1. Be Prepared: It's Nature Photography - every second and every frame matters. From picking the right Lens to the right place for photographing, everything cannot be pre-determined, you need to act on the Spot. Here're some suggestions:

a) Choose a Lens with a Longer Focal Length: You shouldn't disturb nature while photographing it. Most subjects like animals or birds need to be photographed from afar.

b) Use Wide-Aperature Lens: You would love to keep the subject in sharp focus against a creamy blurred background! Use an f/2.8

c)  Always carry Tripod and Mountings: Remember you're an intruder in the natural habitat of any creature, so in no way should you disturb them. It's good to mount your camera and leave it. Go to a spot where you can observe the cam. Animals and Birds won't show up if you're constantly making noises or you're impatient. Obviously, they aren't your clients and they don't like someone clicking their photographs without their knowledge. It's both ethical and also ensures your safety against any predators!

2. Know your Subject: Although Nature Photography can be often unpredictable, it's always good to keep a specific subject in mind, do some research, have a glance through similar pictures, and then go out. It gives you the knowledge of the species' natural habitat and you can frame something in your mind before going to photograph it. It would be useless if you went out and came back with your camera roll still being empty! Try to keep things as natural and as aesthetic as possible.

3. Use Natural Light to Improve your Photos: Use the available light; stop using flash and other lights; you're outdoors! Try to shoot during the golden hours  -It has a soft, hazy texture that illuminates your subject more evenly and eliminates any harsh midday shadows. Imagine your subject to be a bird on the branch of a tree- natural light would softly illuminate it with hues. That's what I call atmospheric and aesthetic. Also, you wouldn't have the time to use flash or do a full setup with bright light. Try to mix with nature not go afar. Natural light photographs provide an emotional overlay to your pictures that no editing software can produce from color temperature to the vibe.

4. Cultivate creativity: Build familiarity and fluidity with the various components and aspects of Composition, Communication, and Expression through 2-D art. Look at each and every shot minutely, look for the places where you capture what's not necessary or something which you missed- work on that and tuck in your observations and lessons for future reference.

5. Crop close on Textures: From colors to patterns to textures; some of the most interesting subjects can be in front of us. Zoom in and Crop close on your subject. There is a whole new world waiting for you when you look closer. Using a Macro lens is advisable.

6. Photographing Flora: As Nature Photography entails most of the other fields of Photography and being so diverse, every Photographer starts with photographing Flora. Photographing Flora is both pleasing and also a good boost to your self-confidence. On the very first day, you can't capture photographs like Sir Sudhir Shivram or Mam Dayanita Singh; you need to start from simple and basic. Flora is the best subject for you. It's naturally pleasing, it's aesthetic and also, it's available in most places.

7. Respect the Environment: "Leave only footprints". As cliche it may sound, it couldn't be more accurate. respect the environment. We're photographing a very sensitive world that is home to many living organisms. Even the slightest change can have enormous effects! Make sure that there's a minute or no change after you leave the spot. Preserve the Harmony of the Environment.
