Playing with Light!

For every Photographer, Light is an essential source, but you should always try to use it creatively and uniquely to maximize your creativity and make it a subject! You gotta play with the Lights!

Here are some of the ways you can do so:

1. Reflection Photography - Instead of just using light to illuminate an object, use it to create reflections. Now, I’m not saying just throw water and capture what’s reflected- NO! Spread the light at various angles and try to create an illusion! Remember White light is made up of 7 colors, try to extract them in your own creative way!

2. Going Macro – The source of Light is often amazing to look at, especially if shot as a Macro Shot. Get close to a candle or a Filament Bulb and try to get some macro shots. Also, take care not to get too close else you’ll damage both yourself and your camera!

3. Using the Source of Light as a Subject – Often we use the source of light for illuminating but I say, use it as a Subject. Point your camera towards the source and shoot along with some props (flowers, bulb, leaves, branches, anything)

4. Light Trails – One of the most tried out yet amazing and wondrous use of light is making Light Trails. Light Trails is basically captured the moving lights. For that, you would require some specific camera settings:
  1. Keep ISO as low as possible as you don’t wanna overexpose your picture.
  2. Keep extremely Slow Shutter Speed  (4s/8s/10s) coz you want to get all the action.
  3. Mount your device as even the slightest handshake might ruin the picture!
